This is the official town government site for Lake Placid, Florida. The town has a Mayor/Council form of government elected by the town's residents. The population of the town is estimated as of 2010 at 2,278 with a geographical area of 2.84 square miles.
The town has two nicknames—"Town of Murals" and "The Caladium Capital
of the World." Lake Placid has more than 40
murals painted on buildings throughout the town,and 98 percent of
bulbs come from Lake Placid. The town has a
clown college, all of which combine to make Lake Placid the
MOST INTERESTING TOWN IN THE UNITED STATES FOR 2012
according to Readers Digest.
The town has five schools, Lake Placid High School, Lake Placid Middle School, Lake Placid Elementary and two private schools within the town's limits. The town has an active Chamber of Commerce.

*TRAFFIC PATTERN TO CHANGE WEST INTERLAKE
The County Engineering Department on behalf of the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners announces that traffic pattern at the West Interlake Boulevard roundabout in Lake Placid will change.
EFFECTIVE SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 2014
Vehicles approaching the circular intersection from West Interlake Boulevard or any other side streets must wait for a gap in the circulating flow, and yield, before entering the roundabout.
