The Town of Lake Placid Council has formed an interlocal contract and
agreement with Highlands County Planning to furnish all of the town's
planning, zoning, and floodplain administration needs.
Highlands County Planning works closely with town staff to review all building plans. They approve and suggest changes to site plans and regularly attend the Local Planning Association meeting and Town Council Meetings to present plans and their recommendations.
The Town of Lake Placid has an interlocal agreement with the Highlands County Board of Commissioners which recognizes that the Town of Lake Placid has a projected growth area. The agreement recognizes the town's interests in this growth area outside the town's limits. The agreement furnishes the Lake Placid Town Council the ability to review and approve, or disapprove, all plans inside the town and outside of the town in the projected growth area. Highlands County Board of Commissioner have agreed to consider the Lake Placid Town Council's suggestions.
